This afternoon we went up to The Black Olive for afternoon tea and a talk entitled Gorillas and Guerillas. This talk was about the adventure of going to a South African Safari park, specifically because they wanted to see some real Mountain Gorillas in Rawanda, where there is a speciality Safari Park that specialises in these animals. But the speaker also gave us a considerable insight into the earlier problems around Rawanda and Uganda, the fighting and the huge amount of genocide there. All in all a very interesting potted history and some nice sandwiches and home made cakes for afternoon tea. Worth 20 TL per head, plus of course another 10 TL for raffle tickets, but the money is going to a good cause, namely 112 the emergency medical service.
